Quando as frases são passadas para as formas Negativa e Interrogativa, a gramática recorre ao uso do verbo auxiliar DID, na negativa pode assumir a forma abreviada DIDN'T (Did not).

OBS.: Quando a frese tem o verbo auxiliar do tempo em questão, o verbo volta no seu estado original, ex.: I lived in New York - I didn't live in New York - Did I live in New York?
