Gostaria de citar Toni Morrison antes de mais nada:
“All of that art-for-art’s-sake stuff is BS,” she declares. “What are these people talking about? Are you really telling me that Shakespeare and Aeschylus weren’t writing about kings? All good art is political! There is none that isn’t. And the ones that try hard not to be political are political by saying, ‘We love the status quo.’
"Toda essa questão de arte pela arte é uma besteira. O que é que eles estão falando? Você quer me dizer que Shakespeare e Ésquilo não estavam falando sobre reis? Toda arte boa é política! Não há nenhuma que não o é. E aquelas que tentam não ser políticas, acabam sendo políticas dizendo "Nós amamos o status quo".
Censurar a arte limita o potencial criativo e atrapalha no papel fundamental da arte, que é passar uma mensagem.
