Usamos a forma Comparativa (seja em relações de superioridade e inferioridade) ao comparar dois elementos diretamente. Para adjetivos considerados curtos, também chamados de regulares, basta adicionar a terminação -er ao final do mesmo, logo, teremos adjetivo com -er + than. Exemplo:
- John is taller than Michael. (John é mais alto que o Michael)
- My mother is faster than my father. (Minha mãe é mais rápida que meu pai)
Já para adjetivos considerados longos, também chamados de irregulares, basta usar more + adjetivo + than. Exemplo:
- Mary is more intelligent than me. (Mary é mais inteligente que eu)
- Dogs are more beautiful than cats. (Cachorros são mais bonitos que gatos)
Já o Superlativo é usado para comparar um elemento em relação a um grupo. Para adjetivos curtos, usamos o artigo the + o adjetivo com -est no final. Exemplo:
- The cheeta is the fastest animal in the world. (O guepardo é o animal mais rápido do mundo)
Já para adjetivos longos, basta usarmos the + most + adjetivo. Por exemplo:
- Rihanna is the most beautiful singer in the world. (Rihanna é a cantora mais bonita do mundo)
