Para mudar as frases a seguir para as formas interrogative (pergunta) e negative (negação), é necesário saber que there is e there are têm o sentido dos verbos existir/haver em português. Logo, as sentenças ficam:

  1. I - Is there watermelon on the table? N - There isn't watermelon on the table.
  2. I - Are there six oranges in the icebox? N - There aren't six oranges in the icebox.
  3. I - Is there a cake in the stove? N - There isn't a cake in the stove.
  4. I - Are there two iceboxes in the kitchen? N - There aren't two iceboxes in the kitchen.
  5. I - Is there a pineapple on the table? N - There isn't a pineapple on the table.

Uso do there is e there are

Para criar estruturas com there is e there are, deve-se ficar atento às regras:

  • Na forma afirmativa, usa-se there is (para singular) e there are (para plural)
  • Na forma negativa, usa-se there isn't (para singular) e there aren't (para plural)
  • Na forma interrogativa, usa-se is there (para singular) e are there (para plural)
