As formas afirmativas e interrogativas do Simple Past não possuem contração; a forma negativa é organizada da seguinte maneira: na 1ª coluna encontra-se a forma sem contração e na 2ª, é a forma contraída:

Forma afirmativa:
Sem contração
I was
She was
He was
It was
They were
You were
We were

Forma negativa:
Sem contração
I was not
She was not
He was not
It was not
They were not
You were not
We were not

Com contração:
I wasn't
She wasn't
He wasn't
It wasn't
They weren't
You weren't
We weren't

Forma interrogativa:
Sem contração

Afirmativa:
