1-Minas Gerais investigates suspected case of coronavirus

The government of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais released a statement on Monday with information on a new suspected case of coronavirus. According to the note released by the state’s health secretary, the patient is a 22-year-old woman who traveled to China and was admitted to a public emergency room in the capital, Belo Horizonte, with “some respiratory symptoms and low fever”.

3-Brazil records second coronavirus death

A 69-year-old man who had been diagnosed with COVID-19 died on Tuesday evening at the Icaraí Hospital, in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, where he was hospitalized. According to O Globo, the man began to show symptoms on March 11th. The first death caused by the virus happened in São Paulo, yesterday, and the victim was a 62-year-old man.

This week, a COVID-19 vaccine being developed by the University of Oxford, in the United Kingdom, is entering phase 3 of its human trials, in which at least 10 thousand people will be vaccinated all over the country to test the effectiveness of the drug. Among the more than 70 immunizing agents currently being developed all over the world, this is considered to be the most advanced and one of the most promising.
