Help! I can’t put down my phone

“If you feel frantic at just the thought of being digitally disconnected, you’re not alone. Find out how your phone is changing the way your brain works. (Sorry, there’s no app that can stop it)[…]”

What problems does the text mention?

Giving us a leg up.

Putting obstacles in our path.

Technology is very addictive and very distracting.

This distraction can prevent us from doing important things such as hang time with friends, doing homework. So it is important to realize that your phone could be getting in the way - maybe even more than it is helping you out.

a) WHAT OTHER PROBLEMS?

The excessive use of phones can bring problems such as

Neck pain.

Always keeping your neck in the same position when using your cell phone can cause pain.

Vision problems.

Tendonitis.

Insomnia.

Headaches.

Posture and spine problems.

b) Are you addicted?

It is a personal question, although in my case I often use smartphone as a way to communicate better with friends and family, research and study. I admit that sometimes I can spend more time than I should scrolling in social medias and watching random videos.

c) What can we do to help someone?

We can inform them the risk of the excessive use of the phone and show them reliable information about it.
