Just like the Age of Discovery, in the 15th century, the Space Age had its own particular
motivations and objectives.
The Soviet Union started the Space Age in 1957, with the launching of the Sputinik Satellite.
Unlike the Great Navigations, whose purposes included treasures and land acquisition, the
Space Age main motivations were scientifc development and prestige.
Now, in the 21th century, with the discovery of water on the Moon and on Mars, and with
private space companies, it's still unclear what the next Age will be determined by.
