Simple Past

Ex.:

  • And where did I find my notes?
  • Did you know what to write?

Nas negações, também usa-se o "did", acompanhado de "not". Ex.:

  • She did not find her notes.
  • She didn't know what to write.

Obs.: no verbo To Be, o passado é feito com o was (para as pessoas: I, He, She, It) e com o were (para: You, We, They).

Past Perfect Simple

Ex.:

  • William had lived in Boston for six years before he moved to New York.

  • Before (antes);
  • After (depois);
  • already (já);
  • just (somente, há pouco).

O had é passado do verbo have, auxiliar usado no Passado Perfeito. A estrutura desse tempo verbal é:

  • Catherine opened the window that I had just closed.
