Sweet sixteen
For most girls in the United States or Canada, turning sixteen
years old is a small / big thing; it's when they become
younger / older and a new chapter of their lives begin.
They have a birthday party that is very important / serious
it's called their Sweet Sixteen. These parties can be very
fancy or not. Nowadays, they are more informal and
they usually have themes, like furry / costume or pool
parties, Hollywood, zombies, 80's, etc. The idea is to
make everybody wear personal / unusual clothes. People
can wear wigs / flags, different costumes, and in fancy parties, the birthday girls wear their
best dresses, shoes and glasses / make-up, then they show off / show up their pictures
on the Internet. The party is not complete without a DJ and a very big cake. With all these
combinations, it is usually a memorable night!​
