Debate (from the French debat) is a model of contestation based on argumentation where two, or more, conflicting ideas are defended or criticized on the basis of arguments. It is formally used by parliamentarians, politicians in general, scientific debates, philosophical debates, literary debates and many others.

debate is when people get together and talk about a topic and often someone is trying to propose a reason why the other should see its train of thought and explain carefully what is his point of view, thus usually people try to impose their point of view over the others so on and so forth
