lembre-se que o verbo to be (am, are e is) sempre concorda com o pronome.

Então se por exemplo falamos "mike" é uma pessoa só, usamos "is"

e quando falamos "mike, his wife and their kids" são varias pessoas e usamos "are", lembre-se dessas regrinhas :)
