Notes:

The expression 'used to + infinitive' is used to talk about habits in the past. Unlike the other modal verbs, it is ONLY found in the past tense.  

'Used to' is used:

• to describe an activity or a state that happened many times in the past (= a past habit).  

• to refer to an activity or state that was true in the past but is no longer true (= an action or habit that was common in the PAST but not any more).
