On 27 April 1994, a wonderful thing happened in South Africa.

Everyone who was 18 years old or older went to vote. For the

very first time Indian, coloured and African people were allowed

to vote. This was our country's first fully democratic election, and

everybody voted together to choose a new government. Women

and men voted, old people and young people voted. They all

stood in queues for a long time to choose the new government,

but they didn't mind. At last they had the freedom to vote!

Em 27 de Abril de 1994, uma coisa maravilhosa aconteceu na África do Sul. Todos que tinham 18 anos de idade ou superior foram votar. Pela primeira vez Indios, Coloured e Africanos foram permitidos a votar.
