- What do you know about the Beatles?
The Beatles was a rock band, formed in Liverpool (England) in 1956. The following musicians were part of this group: John Lennon (vocalist, guitarist and composer), George Harrison (guitarist and vocalist), Paul Mc Cartney ( bassist, composer and vocalist) and Ringo Star (drummer). The band's initial name was Silver Beetles, making a reference to beetles. However, at the suggestion of John Lennon, a band was renamed The Beatles, as the English word "beat" means rhythm or beat.
They were successful worldwide with their music, especially in the 1960s. The success is due to the revolutionary style they implemented in the music scene. They were songs with strong lyrics and strong guitar effects. The lyrics reached young people in full, as they were challenging and revolutionary for the time. The visual style has also revolutionized the music scene. Liverpool youth wore long hair, brightly colored clothes, rings and other adornments.
The success was so great that in 1965 they were received by Queen Elizabeth II of England and received medals from the Order of the British Empire. From music they went to the cinema and, in 1967, they released the film “Socorro!”. Beatlemania spread all over the world, being successful even in Brazil. They also produced other films: A Hard day's night and Magical Mistery Tour.
The band began to go into crisis, due to business differences, in the late 60s, ending in 1970. John Lennon pursued a solo career, with the participation of his wife Yoko Ono. However, in December 1980, he was murdered by a fan upon entering his building in New York City. One of the greatest musicians of all time died.
The Beatles' and John Lennon's songs are very successful to this day, being listened to by young people and adults alike.
