Boa noite, o past continuous é composto por:

Sujeito + verbo To Be no passado + Verbo principal no gerúndio (ING no final) ex:

I was watching a TV show when you arrived.

I [sujeito] was [verbo to be no passado] watching [verbo to watch no gerúndio]

dai precisamos saber como se conjuga o verbo to be no passado:

I was

You were

He/she/it was

You were

We were

They were

Mais alguns exemplos:

I was doing my homework at seven o'clock.

We were playing soccer.

They were studying.

What were you doing yesterday night?

alguns verbos mudam a forma de se escrever, como o verbo 'Tie' da questão d, por isso quando tiver dúvida, é só pesquisar no Google a sua conjugação.

então, vamos lá:

a) Brazil was winning the gold medal when the athlete collapsed.

b) They were living together.

c) My father and my mother were studying in the same classroom.

d) Johnson was tying a rope there.

e) I was crying when you arrived.

f) You were doing a good job.

espero ter ajudado.
