Hi Wenderson,
You can use both. The difference is that in one
sentence you____ using the past continuous tense to
talk about the future ("He told me he____going to
church with me”), and in the other you____using
the construction I talked about above. To me, the
second sentence sounds a little better, and more
common in my own experience.
