The Meaning and Symbols of Easter
The name Passover arose from the Hebrew word "Passover," which meant to the Hebrews the end of slavery and the beginning of the liberation of the Jewish people. This release was marked by the crossing of the Red Sea, which opened for "passage" of the children of Israel that Moses would lead to the Promised Land.
For Christians, Easter is the passage of Jesus Christ from death to life: the Resurrection. The passage of God between us and our passage to God. It is considered the feast of feasts, the solemnity of solemnities, and is celebrated not worthily but in joy.
