Geralmente, em frases negativas e interrogativas, utiliza-se "any" e em frases afirmativas utiliza-se "some". Assim, pode-se escrever as frases da seguinte forma:

a) People couldn't sit down at the party because there weren't any chairs.  

b) I couldn't take any photos on vacation because my camera broke.

c) We couldn't buy any food at the grocery store because our money was in the car.

d) I need to put some gas in the car. It's nearly empty.

e) Do you have any stamps? I want to mail this letter.

f) There were some very interesting people at the party last night.

g) I want some books from the library.
